Mark Angus  BA MA PGCE  - Principal

Mark Angus read English and Drama at Flinders University Adelaide and has an MA in Early Modern Studies from King's College, London.  He gained his PGCE in Secondary English from the Open University.  He was previously the Academic Deputy Head of Westminster Cathedral Choir School in central London.
His Interests include literature, theatre, sport, wine and travel.
 

Mrs Jacquie Cullimore - Deputy Principal

Jacquie Cullimore qualified at Bishops Stortford College, Herts, UK. She is an experienced classroom practitioner and has held responsibilities for English, maths and science and been Early Years Co-ordinator and Deputy Head in infant and primary schools in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Hampshire prior to coming to China.
Her interests are reading, gardening and travelling (having ridden elephants in Thailand/cuddled a koala in Australia she would love to pat a panda in China!)

Ms Linda Guishard  BA MA - EAL Coordinator

Linda Guishard holds a double major degree in Business and Sociology from the University of Western Ontario, a diploma in Family Work and an MA in Education (TESOL) from Vermont, USA.
Before BISS Nanxiang, Ms. Guishard taught English and Global Issues at Nanzan University and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan. Her interests include travelling, bargain hunting and watching movies.
 

Miss Heather Brown  BMus Dip HE ALCM - Music/History

Heather Brown taught music both in Scotland and London for several years before coming to Shanghai.
Whilst in the UK, she regularly performed with many ensembles, including theatre performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has recorded for BBC Radio 2 and ITV television. Miss Brown has also competed several times at the UK National Brass Band Championships.
She is currently a member of a soul band in Shanghai and looks forward to many new performances in China.
 
 

 Miss Karen Chen - Teaching Assistant

Karen Chen graduated from the Shanghai Foreign Trade University, specialising in English translation. This is her second year with the nursery class.
Miss Chen enjoys singing and reading books and she loves children and taking care of them.
 

Ms Mihaela Chesaru - Nursery/MFL

Mihaela Chesaru was the Principal of an international kindergarten for four years before joining the British International School.
Ms. Chesaru majored in Chinese and English Language and Literature at the University of Bucharest and has done further Chinese studies at Zhongshan University in Guangzhou. She has extensive teaching experience, particularly with early years. Miss Chesaru speaks English, Chinese, French, Spanish and Romanian.
Ms. Chesaru enjoys science books, travelling and sports.
 
 

Mrs Heather Collins  Cert. Ed  - Art/Geography

Heather Collins studied Art and Outdoor Education at Charlotte Mason College, Ambleside, England. On leaving college Mrs Collins worked in Residential Outdoor Education and Environmental Studies Centres for a number of years.
Before taking up the post at BISS Nanxiang Mrs Collins was Head of Art at a secondary school in Settle, North Yorkshire, England.
Her interests include travel, theatre, art and crafts, swimming and outdoor activities.
 
 

Thomas Hitchings  BA (Hons)  - Physical Education

Thomas Hitchings graduated from St Martin's University, Ambleside campus, with qualified teacher status. 
Before BISS Nanxiang, Mr Hitchings worked in All Saints C.E. Primary school as a class teacher. He coordinated physical education and sport for the school and developed many healthy activity programmes for the City of Manchester as part of the schools sport coordinator partnership.
His interests include playing and watching sport, music, travel and fine art.
 
 

Mrs Susan Hook  Dip Ed - KS1 and KS2

Susan Hook has over 35 years teaching experience. She gained her Primary Dip Ed in Victoria, Australia and has taught classes from reception to year 6. She is also a qualified physical education teacher.
Before coming to BISS Nanxiang she was teaching in an underprivileged area of Sydney, Australia.
Mrs Hook is interested in travel, sport and music.
 

Mrs Miranda Hu   BA - Mandarin

Mrs Hu gained her Bachelor's degree from Shanghai East Normal University, where she majored in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Before joining Nanxiang, she taught Chinese in a local school for ten years and had been the leader of a teaching and research group for five years.
Mrs Hu is one of the editors of Individualised Writing, a book designed to enhance students' writing skills, published by Guangxi Education.
Mrs Hu's interests include reading, sport and travel.
 

Mrs Lucy Jiang - Teaching Assistant

Mrs Lucy Jiang graduated from Shanghai Teachers' University where she studied the psychology of children and pedegogical methods.  Mrs Jiang has worked for the British International School since 2004 and has been at Nanxiang since the school's opening in 2007.
Mrs Jiang is the happy mother of a teenage daughter.
 

Mrs Lily Jin  BA - Mandarin

Mrs Jin graduated from Shanghai East Normal University, where she majored in Education, and Shanghai International Studies University where her major was English.  Mrs Jin taught Mandarin in a local school for 8 years before joining Nanxiang in August 2007.
Mrs Jin has organised many Chinese and cross-curriculum activities at Nanxiang - she greatly enjoys sharing Chinese culture with people from all around the world.  Her aim is for all of her pupils to discover the fun and joy of learning Chinese. 
 

Miss Sunny Jin - Teaching Assistant

Miss Jin attended Shanghai Girls' High School and East Shanghai Normal University, where she studied English and environmental courses.  She has undertaken internships at local kindergartens and has undertaken further study related to early years education. Miss Jin has worked at Nanxiang for two years and enjoys singing, dancing, learning and playing games with children.  The smiling faces of the children make up the happiest part of her life.
She likes to watch movies, music, playing tennis and travelling (the romantic London Eye is the place she most aspires to go!)
 

Miss Katherine Norris  BA (Hons) PGCE - English

Katherine Norris read English Studies at the University of Nottingham, UK and has a PGCE from Roehampton University, London, in Secondary English teaching. Before BISS Nanxiang, Miss Norris taught at Salesian School, Surrey, as a classroom teacher of Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-Level, coordinating Key Stage 3 planning and leading initiatives to implement the new National Curriculum across the school.
Her interests include reading, swimming, travel and film.

Miss Tracy Qian graduated from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, where she majored in editing and publishing . This is her first year at Nanxiang.
Miss Qian's interest include singing, reading, travel and film.
 

Mrs TR Saraswathy  MSc BEd - Science

Mrs Saraswathy completed a Master of Science in Biology and Degree in Education at the University of Calicut.  She has been teaching biology for 15 years in India, Muscat(Oman) and China.
Her interests include reading, gardening and travelling with her family.

Miss Angela Sharrock  BSc Dip Ed - Maths

Angela Sharrock completed a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Forensic Science at Deakin University in Victoria, Australia.  She completed her Graduate Diploma of Secondary Education at The University of Ballarat. 
Before BISS Nanxiang, Miss Sharrock taught mathematics, science and physical education at Trinity Catholic College in Victoria, where she also held the role of Sports Coordinator. 
Her interests include sports, travel, hiking and reading.

James Viera  BSc PGCE - KS2

James Viera studied Applied Sports Science at Glamorgan University, Mid-Glamorgan, Wales.  He gained his PGCE from The Institute of Education, University of London.  England.
Before transferring to BISS Nanxiang from BISS Pudong,  Mr Viera taught at Yan Ping Junior/Senior High School in Taipei, Taiwan
His interests include sport, travel, and cultural studies

Mrs Monica Zhao - Nursery

Before joining the British International School, Mrs. Zhao was a teacher in the Singapore International School for four years.
Mrs. Zhao graduated from East China Normal University, majoring in Pre-school Education. She has been a teacher for nine years, mainly teaching Early Years. 
Mrs. Zhao enjoys singing, reading and going to the zoo with her lovely four year old son. She loves children and enjoys playing games with them.
