Key Stage 3 and 4 constitute the traditional secondary phase of your child's education, from age 11 to 16. We build on pupils' attainment in KS1 and KS2 through National Curriculum programmes of study carefully structured to provide continuity and porgression. There is, however, a shift in emphasis, in that the move form the primary to the secondary model means that pupils are introduced to a wider range of subjects, all taught by specialist teachers, while at the same time ebing encouraged to take greater responsibility for their own learning and organisation, be it through something as simple as maintaining a locker to the more challenging task of making subject choices at IGCSE. However, class teachers are always on hand to guide and advise pupils as they make their first steps towards further or higher education and to provide them with additional support regarding their academic, social and sporting lives. Our aim throughout the secondary school is therefore to provide pupils with a wide range of academic experiences and opportunities, supported by highly-qualified and knowledgeable staff, while fostering in them the spirit of enquiry and self-discipline necessary to succeed in higher education and the wider world.
